Use through holes instead of pads to enable use of soldering iron. This will make the design much more accessible / easier to build.
Do not place diodes under switches. It's just more difficult to build.
for kailh keycaps: spacing of 17mm. keycaps are 16x16mm.
Use heterogeneous spacing between fingers for comfort. (17 or 18mm) The outer keys can still be spaced efficiently at 16mm. (Design custom keycaps to cover uneven gaps nicely?)
Consider slightly less aggressive thumb radius and maybe a fourth thumb key.
Use microcontroller with castellated holes and mid-mount usb-c port. e.g. sea-picro or helios. (separate reset button on the PCB needed?)
